This article is to clarify why I follow Jesus the Christ, our Lord, who died on the cross and in the third day has risen from the dead.

He died for our salvation because without blood there is no forgiveness. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. I start this little thoughts.

Islam:

The main rules of Islam come from the Koran which Muslims believe that it is a holy book protected by God.

1- Koran challenge people to write a phrase or Surra like Koran. But there is a complete Surra not in the Koran named SURRAT EL WELIYA It is a Sheaa Surra.

This Surra says that Ali (Mohammed's cousin) should be the Khalifa after Mohammed death. The Sheaa believe that Ali had the right to be the believers' commander after Mohammed not Abo Bakr, Omar, and Othman.

Sheaa have objections to the Othman Koran (this copy of Koran named Othmanian copy) they think that Othman change the Koran and remove some words and sentences from it to prevent Ali from being the Khalifa. and they have these addition words. Sheaa receive there tradition from Ali sons who has transfer these traditions secretly.

Who should I believe?

If I believe that this Surra is correct I should be sheaai and believe that Koran was changed. If this cannot be so I have to believe that anybody could write like the Koran and then I lose my trust in it because God speaks lies.

2- Koran is Mohammed's miracle. If you lose your trust in it, you will not trust in what Mohammed says of course. Mohammed does not have any miracles or works of power - just the Koran.

Is "something written" a miracle? No, but if you say that it is written BY GOD, then it will be a miracle. Mohammed should prove his claims so he tell the people that the Angle Gebril has been transferring the God writing between Mohammed and his God. Nobody has seen Gebril except Mohammed !! should we believe one man testimony?!!

3- Koran is often repeating the stories, commands, rules, and sentences!! why? why Koran tell the story of Abraham in example and repeat it again with something new? did God forget to include this new thing?!! Mohammed had a relationship with a monk who I think was believing in Arianism and Mecdonism heresies. The monk's name is "Bohira" and he was excommunicated from the church. He lived in St. Catherine monastery in Sinai, and when they discover his heresies they send him out of the monastery. So this monk gave Mohammed the stories in brief and not the all stories. We should notice that Mohammed had no education and its a miracle in the eyes of his believers because from where he know these stories? Did anybody notice that Surrat Mariam is similar to "Injil" (Gospel)? It start with the story of "Zakria", and then John the Baptist born, and then Mary's pregnancy with Jesus!!

Why Mohammed mention only 25 prophets in the Koran and he say that there is another prophets he don't mention them? Because he knows only these 25 prophets' stories.

4- Koran failed to answer the Jewish question about what is the spirit. Mohammed promise that he will answer them within certain days. But he cannot, after that Koran says to Mohammed do not rush and don't promise anybody that you will do something like that and he answer him about the question with: "say, the spirit is from my god matters, you don't know about it."

So is this an answer, are god put his prophet in bad position with people try to test him?! or because he don't know the answer.

5- Koran was written as Mohammed's fellowship needs. e.g. wine forbidden. Muslims were drinking wine after Mohammed Hijra, Omar saw people drunk when they are praying to God and so he complained to Mohammed. And Koran tells people don't attempt praying while you are drunk. After while Omar tell Mohammed that wine make people drunk and they fight with each other. Koran reply was forbidding wine. So, God don't know that wine is not good for people, and he waiting for Omar to recognize that?!

6- Qibla: the direction Moslems pray to. First it was to Jerusalem!! (notice that Jerusalem means a lot to Mohammed), and then after one year and the "Mohagereen" (Immigrates)corruption for their own "Kebba" (they want to pray to the Kebba, and for make the trade grow up in the area of Mecca because of the visitor to Kebba), Mohammed change the direction for praying to Mecca!! With a command from God!!

In Islam there is something we couldn't describe God with, which is "Beda'a" (changing his opinion, or he see something is good so he change his point of view). Tell me please is this is not a changing of God's view?! or you will said that the reason (like Koran) is to test people faith!!

Christianity:

1- If you believe that Koran was written by Mohammed not by God, then you could believe that the bible was not misconstructed.

2- Jesus have a lot of witnesses to his miracles, and Koran itself confirms that. Among Jesus' miracles was raising people from death. Tell me is there is anyone could do this except God?!

3- Jesus' title (Messiah) means "anointed" and the one who have no sin (Islam say this) but there is nobody who has no sins except God. Who is perfect?! God only.

4- Koran confirms that Jesus is born from a mother only "We (God) blow in her (Mary) from our spirit". Glory be God.

Why all this? Why God blow in Mary from his spirit? If Jesus a just a prophet, why does God insist to make his birth a unique thing and miracle? Even Mohammed who say that he is the last and the best prophet has not been honored like Jesus. (read Surrat Mariam)

5- If Judas was crucified instead of Jesus then why does he not scream "I'm not Jesus"?

Comparing between Christianity and Islam:

If we compare between Islam and Christianity we will found that:

 Islam

Christianity

Muslim is a slave Christian is a son
Muslim worship God because he (Muslim) afraid from him (his hell) and covet on him (asking for heaven). Christian worship God because he love him. (did son hate his father?).
Muslim following Islam commands because of frightens and covetous. Christian prevent himself from doing the bad things and do the good things because he love his father.
Muslim afraid from the end, even if he do all the good things, because God only who decide if you will join the hell or enter the heaven. Christian live in the eternal because he know that God salvation make him inherit the eternal life.
Islam convince people with sword, be Muslim or die. Christianity convince people with the love of the Christ.

So, do you want to still be a slave, worship God with fears and covetous, being not sure of your end, be Muslim then.

But I will not. Christ freed me end he called me to be his son. He love me because he accepted to die for me on the cross.

May the peace of the Christ be on you.

THE BIBLE Vs QUR’AN-HADITH
The Bible
The Bible comprises:
1. God’s statements (at times printed in red)
2. Prophets’/Apostles’ traditions and
3. The report of events of Biblical times
In Islam, the ‘God’s statements (Qur’an) is completely separated from the ”Prophet’s/Apostles’ traditions”.
Muslims’ Ignorance
It is a pity that Muslims, who mistakenly imagine the Holy Bible to be like the Qur’an, quote the ‘reports’ and ‘traditions’ parts of the Bible in their efforts to prove that “the Bible is contradictory etc and therefore it is not God’s statements” instead of them to quote the Biblical God’s statements. Nevertheless, their arguments are normally simplistic.
The Hadith
It should be noted that Hadith, the Islamic equivalent of the portion of the Bible often capitalised upon by the Muslims, is the most contradictory and controversial book on Earth.
In the Hadith, to virtually every story or law there are radical or contradictory versions.
Qur’an/Hadith
Though successive revisions and corrections of the Qur’an have made it more consistent than Hadith, even Uthmanic version, the last version of the Qur’an, has created more questions than answers and left so many vital questions unanswered. Thus more fabrications and plagiarisms aimed at complementing even this last version of the Qur’an were made and added, not to the Qur’an as would have been preferred but, to the Hadith because the Qur’an had erstwhile been publicly declared as haven been perfectly completed.
Consequently the Hadith, which is supposed to solely be Traditions of Muhammad (Interpretation of the Qur’an) exceeds its scope such that it contains, in addition to Quranic elements:
i. Some big pre-Islamic stories/religious laws that are not traceable to the Qur’an and were logically plagiarised from the Bible and para- phrased.
ii. Some stories/religious laws that are by their virtue, supposed to be divine revelations and, therefore, originate from the Qur’an, but are curiously, not traceable to the Qur’an.
Examples of Hadth Exceeding its Scope (including Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih al-Muslim)
i. Hadis-al-Qudsi (supposed Allah’s statements), which are not traceable to the Qur’an.
ii. The Second Coming of Jesus (and some funny details), which are not traceable to the Qur’an.
iii. How to pray in Islam which, you may not believe it, is not traceable to Allah’s statements (Qur’an).
iv. The coming of the Dijjal on the Last Day and the reversed movement of the Sun by then, which is not from Qur’an.
v. Some additional sexually incredible stories of the said Paradise gift damsels (Hurul-in) and many other materials that are supposed to have been originally stated by Allah but are curiously not traceable to the Qur’an.
Indisputable Evidences of Corruption of The Qur’an
The evidences of mutilations even in the current (Uthmanic) version of the Qur’an include the following:
a. ALIF. LAM. MIN (which has been rendered meaningless by wrongful removal of some connective letters or words)
b. KAF. YA. A. IN. SAD ” ”
c. TA. SIN ” ”
d. ALIF. LAM. MIN. SAD ” ”
e. TA. SIN. MIN ” ”
f. ALIF. LAM. RA. ” ”
g. ALIF. LAM. MIN. RA etc etc. These evident corruptions occurred more than thirty (30) times in the Qur’an. What is clear is that God could not have made such meaningless statements. And if He did Prophet Muhammad would logically have asked Him (God) their meanings.
The So-called Variant Readings of the Qur’an (actually various versions of the Qur’anic verses and phrases)
Let me start from the Islamic sources themselves. According to ‘wise’ Islamic Scholars, the reason for these various versions is that, “When Qur’an was collated and compiled, the scribes and copyists wrote the text without using any diacritical points or marks. They relied on their familiarity with the text for correct reading. However, with passage of time the readers of the Qur’an faced difficulties in this respect and they came to read and understand the verses in ways that differed slightly from one another”. See AL-TAWHID, 1990 Vol. vii, no. 3 page 41. (P.O. Box 14155, Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran).
The AL-TAWHID stated that versions of fourteen (14) reciters were originally chosen of which seven (7) have been considered the ‘mutawatir’ (most reliable), three as ‘ahad’ and the other four as ‘shadhah’.
AL-TAWHID adds, “Some like Jalal al-din al-Balqini, have accepted this classification while some like al-Suyuti consider the tawatur’ (authenticity) of the seven readers as doubtful for the following reasons:-
i. Because they have been transmitted through ‘Akhbar ahad’.
ii. Because some of the seven qurra (readers) were not reliable (muwaththaq) as narrators.
iii. Because those qira’at (readings) depended on subjective judgement (ra’y) and personal ‘ijtihad’ (thought) of the qurra. Had these been received through ‘tawatur’ from the Messenger of Allah there would have been no need of proof to establish their authenticity.
iv. Because some scholars have rejected some instances in the readings of the seven qurra”
AL-TAWHID continues “According to al-Zarakshi in al-Burhan fi ulum al-Qur’an (i, 318), those who believe in these seven qira’at being mutawatur (reliable) do so on the following bases:-
i. They claim ‘ijma’ (consensus) on the affirmation of their tawatur.
ii. They furnish evidence in favour of their authenticity on the bases of the care exercised by the ‘Sahabah’ (Muhammad’s companions) in the memorization and recitation of the Qur’an.
iii. They argue that not to regard these qira’at as ‘mutawatir’ necessarily leads to regarding the Qur’an also as non ‘mutawatir ‘.”
Another Moslems’ book titled ‘ITHBAT AN-NUBUWWA (THE PROOF OF PROPHETHOOD)’ noted that some Islamic scholars doubted the authenticity of Qur’an as compiled, maintaining that even “The Sahabah (Muhammad’s companions) were in doubt about some parts of the Qur’an. Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radi-Allahu’anh) said that surat al-fatiha and suras of ‘Mu’awwizatan’ did not belong in the Qur’an. However, these three suras (chapters) are most renowned suras of the Qur’an….”.
In response, the book claim, “Sahabahs doubt about some suras belonging to the Qur’an….was because each of the suras was only reported by one person. According to the principle of ‘usul al-hadith’, information transmitted by one reporter is not certain, but doubtful…., there was disagrement as to wether or not they (the suras) belong to the Qur’an, which brings no harm agaisnt our (Moslems’) cause”
Obviously, the doubting scholars cited Mas’ud because he, as shown by many Hadith (including that of Bukhari and Muslim) had been rated by Prophet Muhammad himself as the best of all reciters. In fact, even if the above given reason is the only and the only cause of Mas’ud’s disbelieve in such chapters, his action was not only the best by the law of logic but even by the Qur’an itself (5:109-111, 24:4-10). Thus the ‘fakeness’ of the doubtful chapters.
The book acknowledges that the doubting scholars pointed out that “there have been disagreements concerning both the recitation and the meaning of the Qur’an among the scholars of Islam. On the other hand, Allahu-ta-ala intimates that the Qur’an contains no points of disagrement. For example He declares in the eight-first ayat of surat an-Nisa: ‘Were this Qur’an the word of some one other than Allah, it would contain many incongruities’…”
According to this book, the doubting scholars cite the incongruities which, in the light of surat an-Nisa, imply human authorship of the Qur’an as:-
i. Some read a phrase in surat al-Qaria: 81 as:
“Kal’ ihni’l-man-fush” while others read it as “Kassafi’l-manfush”
ii. Some read surat al-Jum’a: 9 as:
“fas’aw ila dhikri’llah” while others read it as “famdu ila dhikrillah”
iii. Some read surat al-Baqara: 61 as:
“alaihimu’ dh-dhillata wa’l-maskanata” while others read it as “alaihimu’l-maskanata wa’dh-dhillata”
The doubting scholars, the book noted, conclude, “The disagreement pertaining to meanings in the Qur’an can be examplified as follows:
i. The 19th ayat of surat Saba’ states, ‘Rabbana ba’id baina asfarina’. Which means, ‘Our Rabb! Take our books way from us? It is an invocation to Allah.
Some read it as, ‘Rabbana ba’ada baina asfarina’ which means, ‘Our Rabb has taken our books away from us”
ii. The 115th ayat of surat Ma’ida says, ‘Hal yastati’u Rabbuka’, which means ‘Will your Rabb accept your prayer?’.
Some read it as, ‘Hal tastali’u Rabbaka,’ which means, ‘Will you pray to your Rabb’ “.
Responding, the book acknowledges that the Quran ic verses were confirmed by (human) consensus and adds, “….Our Prophet (SAW) said, ‘The Qur’an was revealed on seven harps (readings) each of which is curative and sufficient.’ For this reason, the disagreement arising from the readings and the meanings of the Qur’an do not undermine its being ‘Mu’jiz’, said the book, ITHBAT AN_NUBUWWA (Waqf ikhlas Publications No. 9, TENTH EDITION, with address as:

In his edition, a leading English Qur’an translator, Abdullah Yusuf Ali, explains two examples of the variant meanings among the present Qur’ans:
i. Qur’an 1:3
“Master of the Day of Judgment” and
“Sovereign of the Day of Judgment”
ii. Qur’an 5:6
“…wash your faces…and (wash) your feet” and
“…wash your faces and wipe your heads and (wipe) your feet”
Then he (Ali) claims, “..It is obvious from the two instances that in the variant readings, there is absolutely no contradiction in essence. On the other hand, they make the meaning all the more comprehensive. And the same is true of all the other variant readings”.
Readers, in the above examples, all given by Islamic authorities themselves, of the numerous inconsistencies that exist in the Qur’an, I still let you see the best excuse or reasons the renowned Islamic Scholars could themselves invent which (the ‘reasons’ ) only expose how a mere consensus book and, therefore fallible and controversial the Qur’an has always been. It does not require much intelligence to realize from the above that:
i. There is no original Qur’an at all and
ii. The Qur’an is full of evidences of its being produced by human being.
That is apparently why Ali takes solace in the escapist conclusion that in ‘essence’ the Qur’an does not contradict itself. That is because Ali knew that all the variant readings can’t be correct at the same time. They, logically and technically, could not have been uttered by Allah at the same time. So, only one can be correct in every category. Even the mildest variant reading Ali cleverly cited of ‘Master’ and ‘Sovereign’ still implies that the Qur’an has been tempered with. Allah could only have said ‘Master’ or ‘Sovereign’. Other inconsistencies are evident at a glance.
More Inconsistencies in the Qur’an
Compare Qur’an 3:45-49 and 19:17-20 (Allah account of Jesus birth. Compare the corresponding words in capital)
Qur’an 3:45 “…the ANGELS said ‘OH MARY! LO! ALLAH GIVES YOU A GLAD TIDING OF A WORD FROM HIM. WHOSE NAME IS MESSIAH, SON OF MARY, A SIGN IN THE WORLD AND HEREAFTER AND ONE OF THOSE CLOSE TO ALLAH. 46 HE WILL TALK TO MANKIND IN HIS CRADLE AND HIS MANHOOD. AND HE IS AMONG THE RIGHTEOUS. 47 She said ‘MY LORD how can I have a son when no man has touched me? He said SO IT WILL BE. ALLAH CREATES WHAT HE WISHES. IF HE DECREES A THING HE JUST SAY TO IT ‘be’ AND IT WILL. 48 AND HE WILL TEACH HIM SCRIPTURE AND WISDOM AND TORAH AND GOSPEL. 49 AND HE WILL MAKE HIM A MESSENGER TO ISRAELITES”.
QUR’AN 19:17 “…then we sent to her (Mary) our spirit (angel) and he assumed to her the likeness of a perfect man. 18 She said ‘LO! SEEK REFUGE FROM THE BENEFICIENT ONE ABOUT YOU, IF YOU ARE A GOD FEARING ONE. 19 He Said ‘I AM JUST A MESSENGER OF YOUR LORD, THAT I MAY GIVE YOU A FAULTLES SON. 20 She said ‘How can I have a son when no man has touched me AND I HAVE NOT BEEN UNCHASTE? He said ‘SO IT WILL BE YOUR LORD SAID IT IS EASY FOR US. AND IT WILL BE THAT WE WILL MAKE HIM A REVELATION TO MANKIND AND MERCY FROM US IT IS A THING ORDAINED”.
For more inconsistencies compare:-
Qur’an 7:11-13 with 38:72-78, with 15:28:34; especially 7:13-18 with 38:77-86, with 15:34-44 and with 17:62-65.
Qur’an 3:7-8 with 39:23, 11:1, 16:89, 2:185, 54:17, 27:1; especially 3:7-8 with 16:89, 54:17 and 11:1.
Qur’an 29:16-18 with 21:51-57 with 37:83-90 with 26:69-82; especially 21:57-58 with 37:89-93, 21:58-66 with 37:97-99
Qur’an 3:45-49 with 19:17-20; especially 3:45-46 with 19:19, 3:47 with 19:20, 3:47-49 with 19:20
Qur’an 7:120-124, with 20:70-73; especially 7:120-122 with 20:70, 7:123-124, 20:71, 7:125-126 and 20:72-73
Qur’an 29:31-32 with 51:24-34, 15:51-60, 11:69-76
Qur’an 11:77-83 with 15:61-74.
Qur’an 3:38-40 with 19:2-10, 21:89-90.
Qur’an 28:29 with 20:9-10, 27:7-12.
Qur’an 28:30 with 20:11-16, 27:8-11.
Qur’an 20:21 with 28:31, 27:10-11.
Qur’an 28:32 with 20:22-24, 27:12.
Qur’an 28:33-34 with 20:25-35.
Qur’an 20:65 with 10:79-81.
Qur’an 20:65 with 10:81, 7:115.
Qur’an 28:34 with 7:109-115, 20:57-64, 10:79-81.
What came from one person (God) is supposed to at least be consistent. Therefore the Qur’an did not come from one person (God), because other than human factor there is no honest or realistic reason for its inconsistecies.
ARE THERE INCONSISTENCIES AND CONTRADICTIONS IN THE HOLY BIBLE?
Unlike the Qur’an, the Bible did not come from one person. Pathetically, the Muslims mistakenly see the Bible as the Christian equivalent of their Qur’an. So, like I said earlier, they cite wrong parts of the Bible to proof that the Christian Word of God is contradictory.
Even then, logically, the seeming inconsistencies and contradictions in the Bible are what confirm its genuineness. Such parts of the Holy Bible were observations and writings of VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS and under VARIOUS CONDITIONS. Scientifically, such reports are subject to INDIVIDUALITY and CONDITIONALITY unless they are edited. Therefore, this existence of ‘INDIVIDUALNESS’ and ‘CONDITIONALITY’ is logically a strong proof that the individual Biblical account have never been edited; and are not fictions in which case they would have been identically written by all the collaborators, but are true and historical events writen independently by various individuals.
Example of CONDITIONALITY
Mark (10:46-52) says that Jesus healed while LEAVING Jericho. But Luke (18:35-43) says while ENTERING Jericho. This, as a Western Reverend writer observes in his book, had been thought to be (as it is apparently) a sharp contradiction until the excavation of Earnest Sellen of the German Oriental Society (citing ‘Archeology and Bible History page 295), when it was discovered that the Jericho of Jesus’ time was a double city–Jewish (old) Jericho and Roman (modern) Jericho, such that LEAVING one could as well mean ENTERING the other.
Therefore both Mark and Luke are perfectly right. Their various versions were caused by the CONDITION of the then Jericho namely, its double-city nature.
Example of INDIVIDUALITY
Because Mark and Luke (as in the case above) did not collaborate but rather independently wrote, INDIVIDUALITY became obvious in their judgments. Thus while one of them ‘conservatorially’ regarded regarded the original (Jewish) Jericho as the (actual) Jericho, the other ‘modernly’ regarded the administrative (Roman) Jericho as (currently) the Jericho.
Other Examples
i. Mark (1:6) says, “John’s food was ONLY locust and honey”, while Mathew (11:18) says, “John came NEITHER eating nor drinking.
Here, while Mark considered the ‘exact aspect’ of John’s feeding, Mathew on the other hand considered the ‘comparative’ or ‘metaphorical’ aspect .
ii. According to John (19:17) Jesus bore his cross up to the Golgotha. But according to Luke (23:26), one Simon was later on forced to carry the cross to follow Jesus. ‘A clear contradiction!! ‘, Muslims would exclaim. But the fact is that the then Jerusalem was a large and walled city and Golgotha was a place just outside Jerusalem. Normally, Jesus most have bore his cross from the Pilate’s Court to as far as outside the Jerusalem Wall and within the premises of the Golgotha before the Simon, who was not even an accused, was nevertheless forced to just take over form the apparently too fatigued Jesus to the exact crucifixion spot.
Therefore, while John ignored the ‘negligible’ contribution of Simon, Luke on the other hand, recognized it, perhaps for historical record.
Naturally, ‘INDIVIDUALITY’ and ‘CONDITIONALITY’ variously manifest any time a historical event is independently reported by different individuals and or when there is a difference of condition.
These types of situations are what Muslims simplistically referred to as contradictions in the Bible.
It should be noted, however, that the contradictions and inconsistencies in the Qur’an can not be explained in terms of ‘CONDITIONALTY’ and ‘INDIVIDUALITY’ because the Qur’an as a whole was supposedly uttered by one person (God). Of course if there exist contradictions in the direct words of God in the Bible, they likewise can not be explained in that ways. But there is non in actual sense.
May the Almighty Yahweh open the eyes of my Muslim friends to see the light of Christ.

Tauriq Moosa - October 24th, 2008 in Feature 1 votes Vote Up! Vote Down!

Whilst I find biographical writing egotistical in most cases, I hope to indulge here in a trajectory of thought rather than a life. I hope to show my own severing of the Islamic veil, which shrouded everything within its bleak dichotomous imagery, and how it is that ex-Muslims are a rarity. Though we are growing in number, there are not many who are willing to openly criticise Islam – I consider this to be part laziness, part apathy and part incredulity by “moderate” Muslims. The major reasons and criticisms will be dealt with in the second part.

Is it racist to loathe some one’s nonevidential-based and metaphysical beliefs? I do not think so. If this were true, I’d be considered alongside the person who decided “Whites Only” was a good sign to make on park-benches. We do not find black people declaring themselves ex-black, or white people declaring themselves ex-white. To say then that I am a racist is incorrect. I was Muslim, now I am no longer.

The question then is why declare oneself by what one is not. Why focus on being an ex-Muslim?

    Power in Words

Defining oneself by a negative is something we as sceptics and atheists often have to puzzle over. Indeed, such a sentence might itself preclude this notion. I have said and I will continue to say that atheism is not a thing, a group, a set of goals. It is not a group of people clamouring for their world view to be adopted, since it is not a world-view. It comes close to be meaninglessness as air comes to being an ocean breeze. Indeed, the harshest critiques of labelling arises from amongst the “upper” echelons of the pursuit of reason.

Sam Harris in his address at Atheist Alliance in 2007, picks up on this theme of racism and atheism too, when he states:

Attaching a label to something carries real liabilities, especially if the thing you are naming isn’t really a thing at all. And atheism, I would argue, is not a thing. It is not a philosophy, just as “non-racism” is not one. Atheism is not a worldview—and yet most people imagine it to be one and attack it as such. We who do not believe in God are collaborating in this misunderstanding by consenting to be named and by even naming ourselves. So, let me make my somewhat seditious proposal explicit: We should not call ourselves “atheists.” We should not call ourselves “secularists.” …  “humanists,” or “secular humanists,” or “naturalists,” or “skeptics,” or “anti-theists,” or “rationalists,” or “freethinkers,” or “brights.”

We should not call ourselves anything. We should go under the radar—for the rest of our lives. And while there, we should be decent, responsible people who destroy bad ideas wherever we find them.

No doubt, my dear readers, some of you will already have objections to this. Whilst I am not dealing with atheism in general, the application to ex-Muslim can be seen as a two-pronged defence: To labeling ourselves atheists and maintaining the use of ex-Muslim.

The main reason: No, there is no such thing as non-racism. But there was a very prominent, destructive, irrational and un-evidential claim known as racism. But we can not deny the activism of “black consciousness”; No reasonable person today would support my country’s history of apartheid. Yet during that time, people proudly – but sometimes in secrete for fear of reprisal – called themselves “anti-apartheid activists”. Yet would any of us today call ourselves “anti-apartheid”? Well, yes, if there was an apartheid to oppose.

Similarly, the tide must turn with faith. I believe it must be eradicated, for good if we are to even grasp at the near-infinite beauty of a good life. No: We do not call ourselves non-astrologers, as Harris states. Nonetheless, just as it needed activism to render most people’s accepted world-view of “race” into something aversive, I think it will take such “activism” to render faith into the vice it is. But this is for another article.

I believe, then, that the use of reason effectively dealt with racism, such that only stragglers and madmen could present themselves proudly as racists today. Similarly, with faith: It too is a great retardation of intelligence. But one so great that even those who do not have “faith” sometimes think it must be sacred, left to its own devices, “it’s not harming anyone” (those I call IDGAFS1).

And a form of faith that has coiled into a great fist, smashing the ground beneath our feet, is Islam. All religions have their horrors and their extremists, no one denies this. Essentially, it is our main point in critiquing it: Religion is man-made. That must be religion’s most salient and nocuous property.

And no more so demonstrated than through the repugnant, almost childish knee-jerk reactions from fundamentalist Muslims. Having unwoven the threads of caustic intellectual abuse, by the hands of the vice of faith, I can finally step back to see this for what it is. But there are no woods to step out of to see trees of respect, love, or reason. Faith would have us cover our eyes and just nod to shadows. Islam, being what it is, as dangerous as it is, would send those shadows out to fight. It is time to fight back.

We know what a terrible darkness such shadows of truth hold.

    The Triumph of Reason

I can admit something I was never very proud of before: I do not think I ever truly believed in a god or afterlife. Along with probably most of you, I am the addressee of Pascal’s Pensées: He who is so made that he can not believe. I learnt the Quran – and still know it – from beginning to end. I can read and write in Arabic. It is a very beautiful language and the incredible aesthetic beauty of its script no less appealing.

But what does the Quran say? If you had asked me that after I had read it the first time, then proceeded to memorise it, I would have stared at you blankly.

As we speak, there are approximately 1.2 billion Muslims in the world, comprising 22% of world. The results may vary but we can assume this: There’s a lot. Of those, I’m an uncertain how many of those are children of Muslim parents (did you flinch when you thought of “Muslim children”?). We can safely say though that millions of children around the world are taught to read, learn and recite in Arabic without understanding a word they’re saying.

I did not know I was reading this, when I recited:

98:6 Lo! those who disbelieve, among the People of the Scripture and the idolaters, will abide in fire of hell. They are the worst of created beings.

88:23-24 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth /Allah will punish him with direst punishment.

These are mere tips of growing icebergs, as fundamentalists freeze ancient ideas into growing pandemics of destruction.

Perhaps your own thoughts can formulate on why it is dangerous to learn in a language you essentially do not speak, to learn sentences you would not condone. I do not condone murder or destruction or harm to any person, yet here I was, learning verses spoken by “Allah Himself” (via Jibreel, to Muhammad, to the scribes, to etc.). Who was I to question my duty as a Muslim?

I attended seven madrassas. At each one, I was physically abused by the jaded jackals of god’s word. If we did not pronounce certain Arabic letters correctly, our fingers were bleeding after a good dose of punishment by a cane. We were yelled at, screamed at, hair was torn out in anger as we were not feeling Allah’s power and grace and beauty. It is neither hard nor uncommon to consider such occurences and perhaps that’s what makes it so wrong. A lot of my ex-Muslim friends also went through similar conditions. All this amidst a growing society, fresh from the battle against oppression – a society still licking its war-wounds and scrambling for some semblance of stability.

I neither consider myself scarred, harmed or abused to any great degree. I am neither angry at those men nor wish them harm. In a sense, I thank them for instilling the most powerful seed that resides in the human mind: Doubt.

We all know the foundation for stable thought in analysis begins with Cogito ergo sum. Yet, we must also remember Dubito ergo Cogito (I doubt, therefore I think), THEN Cogito ergo sum. I found myself wondering, if god’s love is so great, his power so immense, why do I constantly feel nothing but the biting cain against my knuckles?; Why do I feel nothing but paper when I touch the Quran?; and where is that rapturous experience that exudes from all the imams and mullahs I had interacted with?

It was then that stumbled across the most important book in my life: The Satanic Verses. It was to render that doubt into reason, to turn my apathy into action and so stabilise why I think being an outspoken ex-Muslim is important…

    ENDNOTES

    ______

    1. Idgafs are not necessarily “not giving a frack”, as the term suggests, but they are primarily nonbelievers who treat faith as something that should not be attacked, mocked, criticised, or at least attempted to be understood using emotion. Most nonbelievers I know are like this, even though they would be supporting me in any other area to promote reason.

    Muhammad's Capture of Beautiful Slave-girl Juwairiya & Aisha's Adulterous Night-out

Note: The dialogues in this article is a fictitious enactment of events based on Islamic accounts.

The sneak attack on Jewish tribe of Bani Mustaleeq was a smashing success. Jihadis managed to kill many sleeping kuffars and grab abundant booty which included enslaved men, women and cattle. The immense booty was distributed among the jihadis after the prophet took his cut of 20 %.

    Bukhari, 3:46:717

Prophet had suddenly attacked Bani Mustaliq without warning while they were heedless and their cattle were being watered at the places of water. Their men were killed and their women and children were taken as captives.

The muslim camp at night was buzzing with activities... Most men were having fun with their enslaved women and some with enslaved men (many men are bisexual in harsh desert male dominated society)... Some who only got cattle as booty were experimenting with their animals... Prophet was also busy with his share of slave girls in his large tent. Aisha shared the tent with the prophet and his slave girls from the raid...There were several men outside the prophet’s tent waiting for advise on their personal problems.

Prophet came out for Isha (evening) prayer and talked with the waiting jihadis.

Prophet: What is your problem Abu Zar?

Abu Zar: Rasulullah, I received a woman and her husband as my war booty. I made love to the woman while the husband was tied up nearby. I felt kind of guilty having sex with a married woman while her husband watched. . Can you tell me what I did was halal.

Prophet: “Yes it was halal activity which receives many blessings from Allah. Allah says in aya 4.24 that sex with married captured woman and slave girls is halal”.

Abu Said Khudri (and three other jihadis): Rasulullah We have received beautiful women as our booty. We want to sell them later after using them for a good price in Medina slave-market. But we worry we may impregnate them lowering their resale value. Is it halal to use withdrawal method (coitus interruptus) to avoid pregnancy under sharia?

Prophet: “Withdrawal method is ”makrooh” because no body can get pregnant without Allah’s order”.

    Bukhari  3:34:432:

    Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

While he was with Allah's Apostle he said, "O Allah's Apostle! We got female captives as our share of booty, and we are interested in their prices, what is your opinion about coitus interrupt us?" The Prophet said, "Do you really do that? It is better for you not to do it. No soul that which Allah has destined to exist, but will surely come into existence.

Abdulla: Rasulullah, I did not get any man or a woman in my lot for booty, I am so horny, I feel like cutting off my penis.

Prophet: You cannot do that. If you did, your penis will complaint against you on the judgement day. It is better you acquire a woman for tonight with money...

    Bukhari 7:62:130

    Narrated 'Abdullah:

We used to participate in the holy battles led by Allah's Apostle and we had nothing (no wives) with us. So we said, "Shall we get ourselves castrated?" He forbade us that and then allowed us to get a women with a temporary contract.

Safwan Bin Muattal (a handsome young hulk): Rasulullah, I have been away from my wife for a long time. I only got two goats as booty in this raid. Don’t tell me to go to my goats as I have no taste for animals like some of the jihadis have... I am horny like hell. What can I do?...

Prophet: Why don’t you borrow a vagina from a friend...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cnFByXOt2k&feature=related

Safwan: I doubt if any one will spare theirs. They are all very horny.

Prophet: Well then find a man. It is sunna to enjoy men...

    Bukhari, 1183:

“Then the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, opened his mouth and put his tongue in his mouth”.

Sunan Bayhaqi and Al Halabi explain:

According to this hadith, a man named Zahir, who used to declare that “the prophet loves me,” said that one day Muhammad crept unawares behind him and put him in a bear-hug. Zahir, alarmed, yelled, “Get off me!” After turning his head and discovering that it was Muhammad, he stopped struggling and proceeded to “push his back into the prophet’s chest—prayers and blessings upon him."

Sunan Abu Dawud (one of the six canonical hadith collections) notes that Muhammad lifted up his shirt for a man, who proceeded to kiss his entire torso, “from his bellybutton to his armpits.”

Safwan: Rasulullah, I never developed a taste for men.

Prophet: Then tough luck, you will have to stay horny.

The prophet then went inside his tent and grabbed one of his captured women and slipped into his bed.

A man Thabit Bin Qays showed up at the prophet’s tent with a gorgeous, young captive woman and started calling the prophet. Aisha came out.

Thabit: Is Rasulullah in the tent?

Aisha: Yes, but he is in bed with a slave-girl right now. Can I be of help?...

Thabit: This is Juavaria (Juwairiya), the daughter of the chief Harith, she fell to my lot as my booty... I decided to ransom her for 9 oaks of gold. She feels it is excessive which no body can pay. She wants Rasulullah’s help in this matter...

    http://66.34.76.88/alsalafiyat/juwairiyah.htm

"when the prophetpeace be upon himdistributed the captives of Banu Al Mustaliq, she Juavaria) fell to the lot of Thabit ibn Qyas. She was married to her cousin, who was killed during the battle. She agreed to pay him nine okes of gold for her freedom. She was a very beautiful woman. She captivated every man who saw her. She came to the prophet-peace be upon him-, to ask for his help in the matter”

Aisha was stunned with the beauty of Juavaria and worried that her husband may help himself in this matter...

Aisha: (loudly) Rasulullah, if you are done with Salma can you come out and talk to this young lady...

Prophet had overheard the the talk and was curious... He came out and looked at the scantily dressed well-endowed beauty; he was overwhelmed by her looks and figure.

Prophet: Thabit did you already sleep with her?

Thabit: Rasulullah, I swear I did not even disrobe her.

Prophet: In that case, I will give you two camels and two slave-girls from my booty for her. That is worth more than 9 oaks of gold...

Thabit: It's a deal. she is all yours.

Prophet: Aisha, please give my slave-girls Salma and Barra to Thabit and tell Ali to hand him two camels from my booty in the morning...

    Muslim 19:4292:

The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) made a raid upon Banu Mustaliq while they were unaware and their cattle were having a drink at the water. He killed those who fought and imprisoned others. On that very day, he captured Juwairiya bint al-Harith.

Prophet then kicked out Aisha and other slave-girls from the tent to enjoy the consummation of Juavaria in complete privacy.

Aisha, the favourite child wife of the Prophet, was a spoiled brat and was very possessive. Sharing Prophet’s tent with a bunch of captured women was bad enough for her but getting kicked out from his tent for a newly bought slave-girl was very humiliating for her. She lost her head and angrily went straight to young handsome Safwan bin Muattal and talked to him in whispers.

During the journey back to Medina, Aisha sneaked out in the darkness of the evening during a stoppage for rest, and hid behind a bush till the caravan left without her. Safwan was the guy, who stayed back to collect what is left behind by mistake. He met her as was arranged... They spent the night under the stars making passionate love. Morning came too soon...

Aisha: Safwan, thank you. I had the best time of my life.

Safwan: No need to thank me, pleasure was all mine.. Where do I stand compared to Rasulullah? I hear Allah has given him the libido of thirty men.

Aisha: That is all hogwash to glorify him. He is a tired old man like all others. Now he gets turned on only by new girls and he gets plenty of them from raids. On top of that Medina women offer themselves to him all the times. With all that he is really stretched thin and totally drained when he comes to us.

Safwan: We better leave now and think of a good alibi.

Aisha: I will say I went for call of nature and lost my necklace and kept looking for it till morning. Nobody will doubt me.

Safwaan: That will work. And I will say I stayed back as my duty calls for, and found you sleeping.

Ayesha: Nobody will ever know of our sweet secret...

Next day in the afternoon during a rest stop, caravan people saw Safwan and Aisha arriving on a camel.

Abdullah bin Obay (the hypocrite): Holly cow! Safwan spent the last night with Aisha. He surely must have banged her...

Other Jihadis: that is what it appears... See how tired and sleepy they look, they must not have slept at all...

Abdullah: If I was him I wouldn’t sleep either.

Aisha and Safwan gave their stories. Every one doubted. Hardly anybody believed the lost necklace story. Prophet sent her back to Abu Bakar’s (her father) house. Everyone in Medina was talking about Aisha and Safwan’s night out... People started demanding stoning...

Aisha's father, later the first caliph, was a pillar Muhammad's mission; he could not spoil the relationship. The prophet decided to defend her from the charge of adultery and made up an aya, which required four male witnesses to prove an illegal sexual act.

That aya surely saved Aisha but has condemned innocent victims of rape ever since in Sharia lands. A serial rapist can walk into a ladies dorm and rape any number of girls he wants in front of all and walk out without ever getting punished. But the victims impregnated by the rapists get accused of adultery and stoned for lack of four male witnesses to prove the rape.

    Muhammad: A Rapist

Muhammad allowed his men to rape the women captured in raids. However, after capturing the women, Muslims faced a dilemma.  They wanted to have sex with them but also wanted to return them for ransom and therefore did not want to make them pregnant.  Some of these women were already married.  Their husbands had managed to escape when taken by surprise and were still alive.  The raiders considered the possibility of coitus interruptus (withdrawing from intercourse prior to ejaculation).  Unsure of the best course of action, they went to Muhammad for counsel. Bukhari reports:

Abu Saeed said: “We went out with Allâh's Apostle for the Ghazwa of Banu Al-Mustaliq and we received captives from among the Arab captives and we desired women and celibacy became hard on us and we loved to do coitus interruptus.  So when we intended to do coitus interruptus, we said, 'How can we do coitus interruptus before asking Allâh's Apostle who is present among us?"  We asked (him) about it and he said, 'It is better for you not to do so, for if any soul (till the Day of Resurrection) is predestined to exist, it will exist." [1]

Notice that Muhammad does not forbid raping women captured in war.  Instead, he indicates that when Allâh intends to create anything, nothing can prevent it.  In other words, not even the absence of semen can prevent it.  So Muhammad is telling his men that coitus interruptus would be futile and ill-advised because it would be an attempt to thwart the irresistible will of Allâh.  Muhammad does not say a word against the forced insemination of these captive females. In fact, by criticizing coitus interruptus, in effect he supported forced insemination.

In the Qur’an, Muhammad’s god made it legal to have intercourse with slave women, the so-called “right hand possessions,” even if they were married before their capture.[2]

    Juwairiya:

Ibn Aun has narrated: “I wrote a letter to Nafi and Nafi wrote in reply to my letter that the Prophet had suddenly attacked Bani Mustaliq without warning while they were heedless and their cattle were being watered at the places of water. Their fighting men were killed and their women and children were taken as captives; the Prophet got Juwairiya on that day. Nafi said that Ibn 'Umar had told him the above narration and that Ibn 'Umar was in that army.” Bukhari 3.46.717    (see also Muslim 019. 4292)

Muhammad sent one of his companions; Bareeda bin Haseeb, to spy on the Bani al-Mustaliq and after assessing the situation he ordered his men to attack. Muslims came out of Madina on 2nd Shaban of 5 A.H. and encamped at Muraisa, a place at a distance of 9 marches from Medina.

Juwairiya was one of the captives during the raid of Banu Mustaliq. When all the prisoners were made slaves and distributed among the victorious Muslim soldiers, Juwairiyah fell to the lot of Thabit bin Qais. She was the daughter of Haris, the leader of the clan.

The Islamic site muslims.ws writes: “She was the daughter of the leader of the clan, and therefore, very much felt the discomfiture and disgrace of being made slave of an ordinary Muslim soldier. Therefore, she requested him to release her on payment of ransom. Thabit agreed to this, if she could pay him 9 Auqias of gold. Hazrat Juwairiyah had no ready money with her. She tried to raise this amount through contributions, and approached the Holy Prophet also in this connection. She said to him "0' Prophet of Allah! I am the daughter of Al Haris bin Zarar, the Lord (chief) of his people. You know that it is by chance that our people have fallen captive and I have fallen to the share of Thabit bin Qais and have requested him to release me considering my status, but he has refused. Please do an act of kindness and save me from humiliation". The Holy Prophet was moved and asked the captive woman if she would like a thing still better. She asked as to what was that thing. He said that he was ready to pay her ransom and marry her if she liked. She agreed to this proposal. So the Holy Prophet paid the amount of ransom and married her.”

First he raids a population without warning because they were easy targets and wealthy. As usual he kills the unarmed able-bodied men, plunders their belongings, then enslaves the rest. The narrator says,  “According to the prevailing practice all the prisoners were made slaves and distributed among the victorious Muslim soldiers.”  Prevailing practice?  Didn’t Muhammad come to show people the right way?  Why should he follow the evil prevailing practices of a people whom he called ignorant?  By doing so, he set the example and those evil practices became standard practices of the Muslims for ever.

The narrator says that upon seeing Juwairiyah the Prophet was “moved”. Methinks that movement must have happened in his male organ because his heart seems to have remained cold and unmoved. Although Muslims call this marriage, I call it rape.

    Safiyah

Safiyah was a beautiful 17 years old Jewish woman who was captured when Muhammad’s troops raided Kheibar. She was the daughter or Huyeiy Ibn Akhtab, the chief of the Banu Nadir, a Jewish tribe of Medina , whom Muhammad had beheaded two years earlier along with the men of Banu Quriaza. The tribe of Banu Nadir had been already banished from Medina and their properties were confiscated.

Safiyah had married to her cousin Kinana, who was a young Jewish leader of Kheibar. When Muhammad raided that fortress, he killed its unarmed men and captured the rest. A Jewish traitor, (reminds me of Noam Chomsky) to gain Muhammad’s favor and be spared from death, told him that Kinana was the treasurer of the town and that he used to hide the money in some ruins. Muhammad ordered Kinana to be tortured to reveal the whereabouts of the treasures and killed him.

Then he asked the prettiest woman from amongst that captives to be brought to him. Ibn Ishaq writes: "The apostle occupied the Jewish forts one after the other, taking prisoners as he went.  Among these were Safiya, the wife of Kinana, the Khaibar chief, and two female cousins: [sisters of Kinana] the apostle chose Safiya for himself.  The other prisoners were distributed among the Muslims.  Bilal brought Safiya to the apostle, and they passed the bodies of several Jews on the way.  Safiya's female companions lamented and strewed dust on their heads.  When the apostle of Allâh observed this scene, he said, 'Remove these she devils from me.'  But he ordered Safiya to remain, and threw his reda [cloak] over her.  So the Muslims knew he had reserved her for his own.  The apostle reprimanded Bilal, saying, 'Hast thou lost all feelings of mercy, to make women pass by the corpses of their husbands?'”

Safiyah was taken to Muhammad’s tent. Muhammad wanted to have sex with her on that very night, only hours after torturing to death her husband. She resisted his advances. That night Abu Ayyub al-Ansari guarded the tent of Muhammad. When, in the early dawn,  Muhammad saw Abu Ayyub strolling up and down, he asked him what he meant by this sentry-go; he replied: "I was afraid for you with this young lady. You had killed her father, her husband and many of her relatives, I was really afraid for you on her account". (Ibn Ishaq, p. 766)

The next day Muhammad covered Safiyah with his mantle, an act signifying that she is now his. Safiyah was groomed and made-up for Muhammad by Umm Sulaim, the mother of Anas ibn Malik and was taken to Muhammad who married her in a mock marriage ceremony and raped her that night. Muslims call this marriage. I call that rape. I am certain not many young women would like to jump into bed with an old man who happens to be the murderer of their father and husband and many other relatives. That poor woman had no choice; therefore that marriage was nothing but a mockery of this sacred institution. At that time Muhammad was close to sixty years old.

    Rayhanah

Another victim of Muhammad was Rayhana, a 15 year old girl from the tribe of Banu Quraiza. Muhammad massacred all the men of that tribe. Then women were brought to him to pick and he chose Rayhana. Rayhana never married Muhammad and unlike Juwairiyah and Safiyah never feigned being a Muslim to have an easier life. She preferred to remain a sex slave rather the wife of the murderer of her father, brothers and uncles. .

[1] Bukhari, Volume 5, Book59, Number 459.  Many other canonical hadiths recount how Muhammad approved intercourse with slave women, but said coitus interruptus was unnecessary because if Allâh willed someone to be born, that soul would be born regardless of coitus interruptus.   See the following:

Bukhari 3.34.432:  “Narrated Abu Saeed Al-Khudri: that while he was sitting with Allâh's Apostle he said, "O Allâh's Apostle!  We get female captives as our share of booty, and we are interested in their prices, what is your opinion about coitus interruptus?"  The Prophet said, "Do you really do that? It is better for you not to do it.  No soul that which Allâh has destined to exist, but will surely come into existence.”

Sahih Muslim is another source considered factual and accurate by virtually all Muslims.  Here is Sahih Muslim 8.3381:  “Allâh's Messenger (may peace be upon him) was asked about 'azl, (coitus interruptus) whereupon he said: The child does not come from all the liquid (semen) and when Allâh intends to create anything nothing can prevent it (from coming into existence).”

Muslims also consider Abu Dawood highly accurate and factual.  Here is Abu Dawood, 29.29.32.100:  “Yahya related to me from Malik from Humayd ibn Qays al-Makki that a man called Dhafif said that Ibn Abbas was asked about coitus interruptus.  He called a slave-girl of his and said, ‘Tell them.’  She was embarrassed.  He said, ‘It is alright, and I do it myself.’  Malik said, ‘A man does not practise coitus interruptus with a free woman unless she gives her permission.  There is no harm in practicing coitus interruptus with a slave-girl without her permission.  Someone who has someone else's slave-girl as a wife does not practice coitus interruptus with her unless her people give him permission.’"

[2] Qur’an, 4:24: “Also (prohibited are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess: Thus hath Allâh ordained (Prohibitions) against you.”
Qur’an, 33:50):  “O Prophet!  We have made lawful to thee thy wives to whom thou hast paid their dowers; and those whom thy right hand possesses out of the prisoners of war whom Allâh has assigned to thee.”
Qur’an, 4:3:  “If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.”

The Article is in reply to series of allegations made by author in his book which can be accessed here: What Prophet Mohammed Did His Whole Life?

Titles of these allegations against Prophet are mentioned below, Inshallah each allegation would be answered in individual article by titles mentioned below

    8. Muhammad captured a woman and raped her. He also encouraged the rape of women in front of their husbands (Sunaan Abu Dawud 11.2150).

    Hadith (Abu Dawud: 2150)

Above is nothing but a Lie apart from quoting hadith he just quoted the reference, secondly it is a challenge to Anti Islamic people that show us single Qur`anic ayah and Hadith where it says "You can Rape Women or captives", let us see what Prphet peace be upon him, Abu Bakar Siddique (1st Caliph) and Umar bin Al Khattab said regarding Women in war.

     a) Maliks Muwatta Book 021, Hadith Number 008. Section : Prohibition against Killing Women and Children in Military Expeditions.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that a son of Kab ibn Malik (Malik believed that ibn Shihab said it was Abd ar-Rahman ibn Kab) said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade those who fought ibn Abi Huqayq (a treacherous jew from Madina) to kill women and children. He said that one of the men fighting had said, 'The wife of ibn Abi Huqayq began screaming and I repeatedly raised my sword against her. Then I would remember the prohibition of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so I would stop. Had it not been for that, we would have been rid of her.'"

     b) Maliks Muwatta Book 021, Hadith Number 010.  Section : Prohibition against Killing Women and Children in Military Expeditions.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Abu Bakr as-Siddiq was sending armies to ash-Sham. He went for a walk with Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan who was the commander of one of the battalions. It is claimed that Yazid said to Abu Bakr, "Will you ride or shall I get down?" Abu Bakr said, "I will not ride and you will not get down. I intend these steps of mine to be in the way of Allah."

Then Abu Bakr advised Yazid, "You will find a people who claim to have totally given themselves to Allah. Leave them to what they claim to have given themselves. You will find a people who have shaved the middle of their heads, strike what they have shaved with the sword.

"I advise you ten things| Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly."

    • Comment: Subhan`Allah see how Prophet Peace be upon him forbade to kill women and childeren and how beautiful is the advics of Abu Bakar Ra ( first caliph of Islam and the closest companion of Prophet peace be upon him), he even said "Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly." and still anti Islamic people use bad and harsh words against these great people?? I ask abul kasem now a days which leader advise like this??

Islam prohibits Rape of Women (slave or free)

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: "Musaykah, a slave-girl of some Ansari, came and said: My master forces me to commit fornication. Thereupon the following verse was revealed: "But force not your maids to prostitution (when they desire chastity). (24:33)" (Translation of Sunan Abu Dawud, Divorce (Kitab Al-Talaq), Book 12, Number 2304)"

In an authentic narration from Sunan Al Bayhaqi,Book no. 72 Chapter no. 84 Hadith no. 18001 Maktaba Darul Baz Makkah Mukarramah 1994 It is mentioned:

Abu al-Hussain bin al-Fadhl al-Qatan narrated from Abdullah bin Jaffar bin Darestweh from Yaqub bin Sufyan from al-Hassan bin Rabee from Abdullah bin al-Mubarak from Kahmas from Harun bin Al-Asam who said: Umar bin al-Khatab may Allah be pleased with him sent Khalid bin al-Walid in an army, hence Khalid sent Dharar bin al-Auwzwar in a squadron and they invaded a district belonging to the tribe of Bani Asad. They then captured a pretty bride, Dharar liked her hence he asked his companions to grant her to him and they did so. He then had sexual intercourse with her, when he completed his mission he felt guilty, and went to Khalid and told him about what he did. Khalid said: 'I permit you and made it lawful to you.' He said: 'No not until you write a message to Umar'. (Then they sent a message to Umar) and Umar answered that he (Dharar) should be stoned. By the time Umar's message was delivered, Dharar was dead. (Khalid) said: 'Allah didn't want to disgrace Dharar' (Translation Taken from article of Brother Bassam  Zawadi  'Does Islam Permit Muslim Men to Rape Their Slave Girls?)

    •  Notice that Umar ibn Al Khattab (the second caliph) ordered the man who captured the slave girl and had sex with her to be stoned for this crime, for he took the slave girl unjustly.
    • Do these critics who raise these arguments know Islam better than Umar ibn al Khattab?
    • We anticipate what our opponents might say in response. They will say that the scholars whom I just cited and the story of Umar ibn Al Khattab only refer to someone who raped a slave girl who did not belong to him, however one may rape the slave girl that is his property. Even though the story in Sunan Al Bayhaqi makes it clear that the man had sex with the girl after possessing her, we will accept this response only for the sake of argument.
    •  It is nonsense to suggest that one could rape the slave girl he possesses because the Prophet (peace be upon him) warned us that we must take good care of those under our authority:
    •  "There is no person to whom Allaah has given people to take care of, and he fails to take care of them properly, but he will not smell the fragrance of Paradise." (Saheeh Bukhari no. 6731; Saheeh Muslim, no. 142)

    1) 'Umar ibn al-Ahwas (may Allaah be pleased with him) reported that he heard the Messenger of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say during his Farewell Pilgrimage:

"Verily, you have rights over your women, and your women have rights over you. As for your rights over your women, they are that they should not allow anyone to sit on your beds whom you dislike, or allow anyone into your houses whom you dislike. Verily, their rights over you are that you should treat them well with regard to their clothing and food." 2) Related by Al-Daraqutni, Ibn Majah and Ahmad: “The Prophet said, “There shall be no infliction of harm on oneself or others".

‘Others’ includes all people, so also slavegirls ! Raping a slavegirl is clearly doing her harm (emotional and physical) which would be a big sin for a muslim to commit and violation of the above hadith. Moreover the prophet (peace be upon him) commanded muslims to treat their slaves well and with respect, which clearly proofs that rape of female slaves is forbidden in islam.

    3) The prophet (peace be upon him) said:Your servants and your slaves are your brothers. Anyone who has slaves should give them from what he eats and wears. He should not charge them with work beyond their capabilities. If you must set them to hard work, in any case I advise you to help them.[Source: Bukhari, Iman, 22; Adab, 44; Muslim, Iman, 38–40; Abu Dawud, Adab, 124]

Now let us see what the Abul Kasem is talking about.

Sahih Muslim Book 008, Number 3432:

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (Allah her pleased with him) reported that at the Battle of Hanain Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent an army to Autas and encountered the enemy and fought with them. Having overcome them and taken them captives, the Companions of Allah's Messenger (may peace te upon him) seemed to refrain from having intercourse with captive women because of their husbands being polytheists. Then Allah, Most High, sent down regarding that:" And women already married, except those whom your right hands possess (iv. 24)" (i. e. they were lawful for them when their 'Idda period came to an end).

First thing to note is A slave woman with whom a man has intercourse is known as a sariyyah from the word sirr, which itself means marriage.

Commentary of Sahih Muslim by Imam Nawawi says under the hadith of Abu Sa`id

    1) Imam Nawawi said:

And know that the school of thought of Al Shafi'i and who agreed with him from amongst the scholars have stated that the idol worshipper and those whom have no religious book cannot be approached for sexual intercourse unless they convert to Islam first. As long as they are following their religion they are forbidden to approach. These slave girls (i.e. in the particular narration) are idol worshippers. This hadith and whatever resembles it must be interpreted as implying that the slave girls accepted Islam. There is no other choice but to interpret the hadiths this way and Allah knows best.

if he marries off his slave woman, then it is forbidden for him to have intercourse with her… There is no doubt and no dispute concerning the prohibition on his having intercourse with her, for she is now permissible to her husband, and no woman can be permissible to two men. If he has intercourse with her then he is guilty of sin and must be punished. Ahmad said, he should be flogged but not stoned, i.e., his punishment (ta’zeer) should take the form of flogging. [al-Mughni Vol. 9, p. 497.]

    3) According to Imam Abu Hanifah Rahimullah if both the husband and wife are captivated together, their marriage tie still continues; they will not be separated.

     4) Shaykh al-Shanqeeti (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

وسبب الملك بالرق : هو الكفر ، ومحاربة الله ورسوله ، فإذا أقدر اللهُ المسلمينَ المجاهدين الباذلين مُهَجهم وأموالهم وجميع قواهم وما أعطاهم الله لتكون كلمة الله هي العليا على الكفار : جعلهم ملكاً لهم بالسبي إلا إذا اختار الإمام المنَّ أو الفداء لما في ذلك من المصلحة للمسلمين .

The reason why a person may be taken as a slave is his being a kaafir and waging war against Allaah and His Messenger. If Allaah enables the Muslims who are striving and sacrificing their lives and their wealth and all that Allaah has given them to make the word of Allaah supreme over the kaafirs, then He allows them to enslave the kuffaar when they capture them, unless the ruler chooses to free them or to ransom them, if that serves the interests of the Muslims.[Adwa’ al-Bayaan, 3/387]

Shaykh al-Shanqeeti (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

If it is said: If the slave is a Muslim, how can he be kept as a slave if the reason for which people may be taken as slaves is if they are kaafirs who are waging war against Allaah and His Messenger? The answer is that the basic principle which is well known to the scholars and all wise people is that a right that is already established by shar’i means cannot be superceded by rights that are established later on.

When the Muslims take prisoners of war, they are given the right to enslave them by the law of the Creator of all, and He is the All-Wise, All-Aware. If this right is established, then the slave becomes a Muslim after that, his right to be freed from slavery because of his Islam is superceded by the right of the mujaahid whose right to enslave him took effect before he was a Muslim. It is not just or fair to waive the former right because of a latter right, as is well known to all wise people.

Yes, it is good for the owner to set him free if he becomes Muslim, and Islam enjoins that and encourages it, and opens the door to doing so in many ways – he is referring to the fact that Allaah has decreed that when expiation takes the form of freeing a slave, the slave in question should be a Muslim –

Glory be to the All Wise, All Aware: “And the Word of your Lord has been fulfilled in truth and in justice. None can change His Words. And He is the All Hearer, the All Knower” [al-An’aam 6:115].

“In truth” means in what He has told us; “in justice” means in His rulings.

Undoubtedly that justice includes owning slaves and other rulings that are mentioned in the Qur’aan. [Adwa’ al-Bayaan, 3/389.]

    Abul Kasem said

Muhammad allowed his men to rape the women captured in raids (Sahih Bukhari, 3.46.718).

Abu Saeed said: ―We went out with Allâh's Apostle for the Ghazwa of Banu Al-Mustaliq and we received captives from among the Arab captives and we desired women and celibacy became hard on us and we loved to do coitus interruptus. So when we intended to do coitus interruptus, we said, 'How can we do coitus interruptus before asking Allâh's Apostle who is present among us?" We asked (him) about it and he said, 'It is better for you not to do so, for if any soul (till the Day of Resurrection) is predestined to exist, it will exist." [Bukhari, Volume-5,Book-59, Number-459 ]

In the Qur‘an, Muhammad‘s god made it legal to have intercourse with slave women, the so-called ―right hand possessions,‖ even if they were married before their capture. [Quran 4:24,33:5]

     Reply

Firstly it is already stated Al Shafi'i and who agreed with him from amongst the scholars have stated that the idol worshipper and those whom have no religious book cannot be approached for sexual intercourse unless they convert to Islam first. As long as they are following their religion they are forbidden to approach. So here This hadith and whatever resembles it must be interpreted as implying that the slave girls accepted Islam.

Secondly No where it says Sahaba Raped (and we already quoted Athar of Umar bin Khattab ra where he ordered Dharar should be stoned) (Dharar had sexual intercourse with the slave)

Thirdly Imam Al Shaafi'i said:  وإذا اغتصب الرجل الجارية ثم وطئها بعد الغصب وهو من غير أهل الجهالة أخذت منه الجارية والعقر وأقيم عليه حد الزنا

"If a man acquires by force a slave-girl, then has sexual intercourse with her after he acquires her by force, and if he is not excused by ignorance, then the slave-girl will be taken from him, he is required to pay the fine, and he will receive the punishment for illegal sexual intercourse." (Imam Al Shaafi'i, Kitaabul Umm, Volume 3, page 253 translation taken from the article " Does Islam Permit Muslim Men to Rape Their Slave Girls? By Bassam Zawadi)

These things are already cleared before.

Then Abul Kasem argued on Juwariyah, Safiyah and Rayhanah RadhiAllahanhuma

First of all They were Mother of believers as Allaah said in the Qur’aan  “The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers…” [al-Ahzaab 33:6].

    a) Regarding Juwariyah abul kasem came up with same Arguments which Ali sina had here http://www.faithfreedom.org/Articles/sina/Juwairiyah.htm

Brother Bassam Zawadi Already Replied to above article here http://www.call-to-monotheism.com/rebuttal_to_ali_sina_s_article__juwairiyah_

So there is no need to reply these bogus arguments to which Brother Bassam already replied

Just in Short Hafiz Ibne Kathir said

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was thinking of how to save her(Juwariyah) and all her tribe from an ignoble fate. By marrying Juwayriyya, the Banu Mustaliq would be able to enter Islam with honor, and with the humiliation of their recent defeat removed, so that it would no longer be felt necessary by them to embark on a war of vengeance that would have continued until one of the two parties had been annihilated. As soon as the marriage was announced, all the booty that had been taken from the Banu Mustaliq was returned, and all the captives were set free, for they were now the in laws of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Thus A'isha once said of Juwayriyya, "I know of no woman who was more of a blessing to her people than Juwayriyya bint al-Harith." After they were married, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) changed her name was Barra to Juwayriyya.

Wives of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by Hafiz Ibne Kathir, no:8.Juwayriya bint al-Harith

     b) Regarding Safiyah RadhiAllahanha

It is mentioned in Al Raheeq al Makhtoom page no: 511 (urdu version)

Prophet peace be upon him saw a green mark on the face of safiyah ra and said what is this? she said:before you came to khaybar i had a dream that the moon came to my lap from its place, By God i never knew about you (O messenger of Allah) but when i told my Husband he slapped me and said you are wishing the king of Madeenah(i.e Prophet peace be upon him)
(Zaad al Maad of Ibn Qayyam Joziyah vol 2 page page 137)

Reply by Ibne Kathir, he said

Some people may have wondered how it was that Safiyya could accept Islam and marry the Prophet when her father had been his bitter enemy, and when bloody battles had taken place between the Jews and the Muslims. The answer may be found in what she has related of her early life as the daughter of the chief of the Banu Nadir.
    .
She said, (may Allah be pleased with her): "I was my father's favorite and also a favorite with my uncle Yasir. They could never see me with one of their children without picking me up. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Medina, my father and my uncle went to see him. It was very early in the morning and between dawn and sunrise. They did not return until the sun was setting. They came back worn out and depressed, walking with slow, heavy steps. I smiled to them as I always did, but neither of them took any notice of me because they were so miserable. I head Abu Yasir ask my father, 'Is it him?' 'Yes, it is.' 'Can you recognize him? Can you verify it?' 'Yes, I can recognize him too well.' 'What do you feel towards him?' 'Enmity, enmity as long as I live.'(end)
    .
and then ibn e kathir said

It was for these reasons that Huyayy secretly decided to oppose and fight the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while in public he and the other leaders of the Jews made peace treaties with the Muslims and the Jews broke as soon as it seemed a favorable time to do so. Although Safiyya was Huyayy's daughter, she had a pure heart and had always wanted to worship her Creator and Lord, the One who had sent Moses, to whom she was related, and Jesus, and finally Muhammad, may Allah be pleased with all of them. Thus as soon as the opportunity arose, not only to follow the last Prophet, but also to be married to him, she took it.(end)

    http://www.islamawareness.net/Muhammed/ibn_kathir_wives.html

so above is clear Her father and Uncle told her that they saw a Prophet and recognise him, they just went against him because he was from Arab, then Safiyah ra had a dream regarding Prophet peace be upon him, she knew he is a Prophet peace be upon him, its clear why she accepted Islam and married Prophet peace be upon him

    c) and regarding Rayhaanah bint Sham’oon al-Nadariyyah.  It is mentioned in Al Raheeq al Makhtoom

For himself, the Prophet [pbuh] selected Rehana bint ‘Amr bin Khanaqah, manumitted and married her in the year 6 Hijri. She died shortly after the farewell pilgrimage and was buried in Al-Baqi‘[Ibn Hisham 2/245; Talqeeh Fuhum Ahl Al-Athar p.12].Al Raheeq al Makhtoom, Invading Banu Quraiza

    THE DEATH OF MUHAMMAD

    by Silas

              INTRODUCTION

Muhammad died in 632 A.D.  He died as a result of being poisoned following his attack upon and conquest of the Jewish settlement of Khaibar.   About 2 month before his attack on Khaibar Muhammad failed in an attempt to go to Mecca.  This failure resulted in the Treaty of Hudaybiyya with the Meccans.  He returned humiliated in the eyes of the Meccans and in the minds of his people.  To lift their defeated spirit, Muhammad told his followers that the events at Hudaybiyya were really a victory.  In fact, another convenient "revelation" was given to Muhammad as proof that it really was a victory (Sura 48:1).  However, Allah was not able to deliver the Meccan's goods as booty, so Muhammad told his followers that they were going to attack and plunder the weaker Jewish settlement of Khaibar.

About 6 weeks later Muhammad led his army and attacked the Jews while they were on their way to work on their date palms.  Khaibar was a settlement defended by a number of forts spread apart from each other.  One by one Muhammad's army took the forts.  Finally, the last few surrendered to him.  Muhammad had several of the leaders of the Jewish settlement beheaded, one leader (Kinana) was tortured to reveal where buried treasure was hidden.  Then when Kinana was near death, Muhammad commanded that he be beheaded.  Many of the women and children were enslaved.  Muhammad even took the most beautiful woman for himself and married her (Safiyah).

Some of Khaibar's residents made a deal with Muhammad.  Instead of enslaving them,  which would leave the rich orchards of Khaibar to go untended and unproductive, the Jews  would give Muhammad and the Muslims 1/2 of all of what they produced.  Muhammad accepted the deal, with the stipulation that they could be expelled at his slightest whim.  Years later, Umar expelled the last remaining Jews from Khaibar.

Immediately following the conquest of Khaibar, a Jewish woman prepared a dinner for Muhammad and some of his men.  Unknown to the Muslims was that she had put a poison into the lamb (some say goat) that was served at dinner.  Muhammad ate some of the poisoned lamb and died as a result three years later.

              PRESENTATION OF ISLAMIC SOURCES

PART A - THE POISONING OF MUHAMMAD

PART B - PREMONITIONS OF HIS DEATH

PART C - MUHAMMAD AND GABRIEL PRAY FOR HEALING

PART D - THE ADVENT OF MUHAMMAD'S DEATH

I will use quotes from 4 highly respected Islamic writings:

    1)         "Sahih Bukhari”.  This Hadith is considered to be the most important Islamic book, after the Quran.

    2)         Ibn Ishaq's biography, the "Sirat Rasul Allah", (THE LIFE OF THE PROPHET), translated by A. Guillaume as "The Life of Muhammad", is the most authentic Sirat (biographical) literature recognized in Islam.

    3)         Ibn Sa'd biography, the "Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir" (Book of the Major Classes), Volume 2.  Of the three, Ibn Sa'd's Sirat contains the most information relative to Muhammad's death.  I will not attempt to cover the spectrum of subjects Ibn Sa'd addresses in his.  However, I will cover and present his relevant material.

    4)         Tabari's "History".  Tabari is one of the most highly respected authors in Islamic writings.  His "History" is 39 volumes.

    5)         “Sahih Muslim”.  This collection of Hadith is considered to be equal to, or slightly below Bukhari’s collection of Hadith.

NOTE:  I have quoted quite a bit of material.  Some of it is redundant, but I feel that each quote I present provides an important detail concerning Muhammad's poisoning and death.  Please forgive the tedious nature of the quotes; it is essential that I present the source material as accurately as possible.

NOTE:  My comments appear in [  ] type brackets.  Frequently the authors themselves enclose comments in (   ) type brackets.  I will copy them as they appear in the text.

NOTE:  In some cases I will leave out the chain of narrators because they are quite long, and not necessary for the context of the story.

Also, I will present quotes from the sources in as much of a  chronological sequence as  possible.

PART A - THE POISONING OF MUHAMMAD

    A1

    From Bukhari's Hadith 3.786:

Narrated Anas bin Malik:  A Jewess brought a poisoned (cooked) sheep for the Prophet who ate from it. She was brought to the Prophet and he was asked, "Shall we kill her?" He said, "No."  I continued to see the effect of the poison on the palate of the mouth of Allah's Apostle.

    A2

From Bukhari's Hadith 4.394:  Narrated Abu Huraira:  When Khaibar was conquered, a roasted poisoned sheep was presented to the Prophet as a gift (by the Jews).  The Prophet ordered, "Let all the Jews who have been here, be assembled before me."  The Jews were collected and the Prophet said (to them), "I am going to ask you a question.  Will you tell the truth?"  They said, "Yes." The Prophet asked, "Who is your father?"  They replied, "So-and-so."  He said, "You have told a lie; your father is so-and-so."  They said,  "You are right." He said, "Will you now tell me the truth, if I ask you about something?"  They replied, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim; and if we should tell a lie, you can realize our lie as you have done regarding our father."  On that he asked, "Who are the people of the (Hell) Fire?"  They said, "We shall remain in the (Hell) Fire for a short period, and after that you will replace us."  The Prophet said, "You may be cursed and humiliated in it!  By Allah, we shall never replace you in it."  Then he asked, "Will you now tell me the truth if I ask you a question?"  They said, "Yes, O Abu Al-Qasim."  He asked, "Have you poisoned this sheep?"  They said, "Yes."  He asked, "What made you do so?"  They said, "We wanted to know if you were a liar in which case we would get rid of you, and if you are a prophet then the poison would not harm you."

    A3

    From Ibn Sa'd page 249:

Verily a Jewish woman presented poisoned (meat of) a she goat to the apostle of Allah.  He took a piece form it, put it into his mouth, chewed it and threw it away.  Then he said to the Companions:  "Halt!  Verily, its leg tells me that it is poisoned."  Then he sent for the Jewish woman and asked her;  "What induced you to do what you have done?"  She replied, "I wanted to know if you are true; in that case Allah will surely inform you, and if you are a liar I shall relieve the people of you."

    A4

From Ibn Sa'd page 249:  [different narrator]

The apostle of Allah and his companions ate from it.  It (goat) said:  "I am poisoned."  He [Muhammad] said to his Companions, "Hold you hands!  because it has informed me that it is poisoned!"  They withdrew their hands, but Bishr Ibn al-Bara expired.  The apostle of Allah sent for her (Jewess) and asked her, "What induced you to do what you have done?"  She replied, "I wanted to know if you are a prophet, in that case it will not harm you and if you are a king, I shall relieve the people of you.  He gave orders and she was put to death.  [SEE NOTE 1]

    A5

From Ibn Sa'd page 250:  [different narrator]

Verily a woman of the Jews of Khaibar presented poisoned (meat of) goat to the apostle of Allah.  The he recognized that it was poisoned, so he sent for her and asked her, "What induced you to do what you have done?"  She replied, "I thought if you are a prophet, Allah will inform you, and if you are a pretender, I shall relieve people of you.  When the apostle of Allah felt sick, he got himself "cupped".  [SEE NOTE 2]

    A6

From Ibn Sa'd pages 251, 252:  [different narrator]

....When the apostle of Allah conquered Khaibar and he had peace of mind, Zaynab Bint al-Harith the brother of Marhab, who was the spouse of Sallam Ibn Mishkam, inquired, "Which part of the goat is liked by Muhammad?"  They said, "The foreleg."  Then she slaughtered one from her goats and roasted it (the meat).  Then she wanted a poison which could not fail. ....  The apostle of Allah took the foreleg, a piece of which he put into his mouth.  Bishr took another bone and put it into his mouth.  When the apostle of Allah ate one morsel of it Bishr ate his and other people also ate from it.  Then the apostle of Allah said, "Hold back your hands! because this foreleg; ...informed me that it is poisoned.  Thereupon Bishr said, "By Him who has made you great!  I discovered it from the morsel I took.  Nothing prevented me from emitting it out, but the idea that I did not like to make your food unrelishing.  When you had eaten what was in your mouth I did not like to save my life after yours, and I also thought you would not have eaten it if there was something wrong.

Bishr did not rise form his seat but his color changed to that of "taylsan" (a green cloth)..........The apostle of Allah sent for Zaynab and said to her, "What induced you to do what you have done?"  She replied, "You have done to my people what you have done.  You have killed my father, my uncle and my husband, so I said to myself, "If you are a prophet, the foreleg will inform you; and others have said, "If you are a king we will get rid of you.""......

The apostle of Allah lived after this three years till in consequence of his pain he passed away.  During his illness he used to say, "I did not cease to find the effect of the (poisoned) morsel, I took at Khaibar and I suffered several times (from its effect) but now I feel the hour has come of the cutting of my jugular vein."

    A7

    From Tabari Volume 8, page 123, 124:

When the messenger of God rested from his labor, Zaynab bt. al-Harith, the wife of Sallam b. Mishkam, served him a roast sheep.  She had asked what part of the sheep the messenger of God liked best and was told that it was the foreleg.  So she loaded that part with poison, and she poisoned the rest of the sheep too.  Then she brought it.  When she set it before the messenger of God, he took the foreleg and chewed a bit of it, but he did not swallow it.  With him was Bishr b. al-Bara b. Marur, who, like the messenger of God, took some of it; Bishr, however, swallowed it, while the messenger of God spat it out saying, "This bone informs me that it has been poisoned."  He asked, "What led you to do this?"  She said:  "How you have afflicted my people is not hidden from you.  So I said, "If he is a prophet, he will be informed; but if he is a king, I shall be rid of him"".  The prophet forgave her.  Bishr died of the food he had eaten.

    A8

From Tabari Volume 8, page 124:  [different narrator]

The messenger of God said during the illness from which he died - the mother of Bishr had come in to visit him - "Umm Bishr, at this very moment I feel my aorta being severed because of the food I ate with your son at Khaybar."  [See NOTE 3]

NOTE 1: There is disagreement over whether of not Muhammad had the women who poisoned him put to death. In short, he had her put to death for the death of the other Muslim - Bishr, who quickly died from the poisoning. See the reports by Ibn Sa'd, p. 250.

NOTE 2:  Cupping is essentially drawing a small amount of blood from your body.  Muhammad believed that bleeding oneself was "the best of medicines".

NOTE 3: The note on quote A8 states that the expression, "it severed his aorta" need not be taken literally; it is used metaphorically for extreme pain.

PART B - PREMONITIONS OF HIS DEATH

    B1

    From Bukhari's Hadith 5.713:

    Narrated Ibn Abbas:

'Umar bin Al-Khattab used to let Ibn Abbas sit beside him, so 'AbdurRahman bin 'Auf said to 'Umar, "We have sons similar to him." 'Umar replied, "(I respect him) because of his status that you know."  'Umar then asked Ibn 'Abbas about the meaning of this Holy Verse:-- "When comes the help of Allah and the conquest of Mecca . . ." (110.1)

Ibn 'Abbas replied, "That indicated the death of Allah's Apostle which Allah informed him of."  'Umar said, "I do not understand of it except what you understand."

Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O

'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this

time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison."

    B2

    From Ibn Sa'd page 244:

... and there has been no prophet but he has lived half the life of the prophet preceding him.  Jesus the son of Mary lived for one hundred and twenty five years, and this is the sixty second year of my life.  He (prophet) died half the year after this.

    B3

    From Ibn Sa'd page 239:

The appointed hour (of death) of the apostle of Allah came near and he was ordered to recite repeatedly "tasbih" (lit. glorification) and ask for His forgiveness.

    B4

    From Ibn Sa'd page 240:

When (the Surah) Allah's succor and the triumph comes; was revealed he (prophet) said:  (It signifies) call from Allah and departure from the world.

From Tabari Volume 9 page 108:

When the prophet returned to Medina after performing the Pilgrimage of Completion, he began to have a complaint of illness.  As travel was allowed (after the pilgrimage), the news of the prophet's illness spread......Then in Muharram the prophet complained of the pain from which he died.

PART C - MUHAMMAD AND GABRIEL PRAY FOR HEALING

NOTE:  It was already quoted from Ibn Sa'd above (page 250 that Muhammad tried to get himself healed of the poisoning.

    C1

    From Ibn Sa'd page 263

Verily during his illness the prophet recited "al-Mu'awwadhatayn" [Sura 113, and 114], and blow his breath upon his body while rubbing his face.  [This was done in an effort to be healed].

    C2

    From Sahih Muslim volume 3, # 5440

Aisha reported that when Allah’s Messenger fell ill, he recited over his body Mu’awwidhatan and blew over him and when his sickness was aggravated I used to recite over him and rub him with his hand with the hope that it was more blessed.  Also ref. Hadith # 5441.

    C2

    From Ibn Sa'd page 265

The apostle of Allah fell ill and he i.e. Gabriel, chanted on him, saying, "In the name of Allah I chant on to ward off from you every thing that harms you and (to ward off you) against every envier and from every evil eye and Allah will heal you."

    C3

From Ibn Sa'd page 265  [Different narrator]

Aisha, the wife of the prophet used to say, "When the apostle of Allah fell ill, Gabriel chanted on him saying, "In the name of Allah Who will cure you and Who will heal you from every malady (and will ward off) the evil of envier who envies and from smite of the evil eye.""

    C4

    From Ibn Sa'd page 322

Verily, whenever the apostle of Allah fell ill, he asked for recovery, from Allah.  But in the illness as a result of which he died, he did not pray for recovery; he used to say, "O soul!  What has happened to thee that thou are seeking refuge in every place of refuge?"

PART D - THE ADVENT OF MUHAMMAD'S DEATH

    D1 [again quoting from Bukhari's Hadith 5.713:]

    Narrated 'Aisha:

The Prophet in his ailment in which he died, used to say, "O 'Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison."

    D2

    From Ibn Hisham page 678:

While matters were thus the apostle began to suffer from the illness by which God took him to what honor and compassion He intended for him shortly before the end of Safar or in the beginning of Rabi'ul-awwal.  It began, so I have been told, when he went to Baqi'u'l-Gharqad in the middle of the night and prayed for the dead.  Then he returned to his family and in the morning his sufferings began.

    D3

    From Ibn Hisham page 679:

Then the apostle's illness worsened and he suffered much pain.  He said, "Pour seven skins of water from different wells over me so that I may go out to the men and instruct them."  We made him sit down in a tub belonging to Hafsa d. Umar and we poured water over him until he cried, "Enough, enough!"

....then he [Muhammad] said, "God has given one of his servants the choice between this world and that which is with God and he has chosen the latter."

    D4

    From Ibn Hisham page 680:

Then some of his wives gathered to him.... while his uncle Abbas was with him, and they agreed to force him to take medicine.  Abbas said, "Let me force him," but they did it.  When he recovered he asked who had treated him thus.  When they told him it was his uncle he said, "This is a medicine which women have brought from that country," and he pointed in the direction of Abyssinia [Ethiopia].  When he asked why they had done that his uncle said, "We were afraid that you would get pleurisy;" he replied, "That is a disease which God would not afflict me with.  Let no one stop in the house until they have been forced to take this medicine, except my uncle."  Maymuna [one of Muhammad's wives] was forced to take it although she was fasting because of the apostle's oath, as a punishment for what they had done to him.

    D5

    From Ibn Sa'd page 294

Umm Bishr [the mother of the Muslim man who also died eating poison], came to the prophet during his illness and said, "O apostle of Allah!  I never saw fever like it in any one."  The prophet said to her, "Our trial is double and so our reward [in heaven], is double.  What do the people say about it [his illness]?"  She said, "They say it is pleurisy."  Thereupon the apostle said, "Allah will not like to make His apostle suffer from it (pleurisy) because it indicates the possession of Satan, but (my disease is the result of) the morsel that I had taken along your son.  It has cut my jugular vein."

    SEE NOTE 3

    D6

    From Ibn Hisham page 682:

....that he heard Aisha [one of Muhammad's wives] say:  "The apostle died in my bosom during my turn: [the night Muhammad was to spend sleeping with her]  I had wronged none in regard to him.  It was due to my ignorance and extreme youth that the apostle died in my arms."

    D7

    From Ibn Sa'd page 322:

When the last moment of the prophet was near, he used to draw a sheet over his face; but when he felt uneasy, he removed it from his face and said:  "Allah's damnation be on the Jews and the Christians who made the graves of their prophets objects of worship."

NOTE 3:  Pleurisy is an infection of a lung membrane.  It is painful.  I don't know why Muhammad considered this infection to be from Satan, but poisoning would not be from Satan.

              SUMMARY OF THE SOURCES

Muhammad attacked Khaibar. He destroyed, tortured, murdered, plundered, and enslaved many people (ref Kitab al-Tabaqat al-Kabir, volume 2, page 134, 136, 137). They were not preparing to attack him. A Jewish woman, whose family had been wiped out by Muhammad, put poison into a lamb and fed it to Muhammad and the other Muslims. Muhammad ingested some of the poisoned lamb and began to feel it's effects. He died three years later as a result of the poisoning.

              DISCUSSION

What needs to be investigated here are the circumstances of Muhammad's death.   The Jews were planning to murder him.  The Jews believed that a real prophet would be forewarned of their deed but an impostor wouldn't be warned by God.  The Muslims also believed this; the other Muslim who died said that he didn't think Muhammad would eat of something that was poisoned (see quote in A6).

The Jews were right, Muhammad did eat of the poison, and did die from it.  They proved, according to their test, that Muhammad was not a prophet.  As they said (quote A2):

"We wanted to know if you were a liar in which case we would get rid of you, and if you are a prophet then the poison would not harm you."

These Jews were convinced that a real prophet would know what was going on.  In this case Muhammad didn't know.  Only after Muhammad ate from the lamb did the lamb "talk to him".  I don't think that that was anything miraculous in itself; even the other Muslim knew it was bad before Muhammad ate from it.  Most adults know when they are eating something that is bad.  So for Muhammad to say the sheep "talked" to him is not prophetic at all.  Even a child spits out bad tasting food.

Many times previously, Muhammad claimed to have had "revelations" that warned him of danger.  He even used one of these convenient "revelations" as grounds to attack the Jewish settlement of Banu Nadhir.  Yet at Khaibar the revelation came too late:  too late to save his own life, too late to save Bishr's life.

As his illness wore on, Muhammad began to pray for healing – he even rubbed his “healing” hand upon himself.  Gabriel also got into the act and prayed for his healing  (see quotes C2 & C3).  Muhammad even got himself "cupped" (the best of all medicines!), (quote A5).  Obviously, at this point in time, Muhammad wanted to be healed.

But it didn't help.  As it progressively got worse, Muhammad realized that he was dying, ceased praying for healing (quote C4), and claimed that Allah had given him a choice to going to Paradise, or living on earth.  Muhammad said he then wanted to go to Paradise.  Knowing the game was up, he made the best out of a failed situation.

Muhammad's earlier premonitions of his deaths read more like the cosmic words of a mystic.  Nothing definite is ever said about them until after his approaching death.  Perhaps he had seen this type of death before and knew the outcome.  It doesn't take a prophet or a "revelation" to know that death is near.

My basic point is this:  the Jews proved that Muhammad was not a real prophet.  He ingested the poison, so did at least one of his followers.  He attempted to be healed, he tried his medicine, and his form of  “laying on of hands”, his prayer, Aisha’s prayer, and even Gabriel’s prayer, but in the end, he died from the poison.

              QUESTIONS

    1)         If Muhammad were a real prophet of God, why didn't he catch the poison before he ate it?

    2)         If you believe that it was God's will for Muhammad to have eaten the poison, along with Bishr, why then did Muhammad try to get well? Even Gabriel prayed for Muhammad to get better, but Allah didn't answer that prayer either.

    3)         Why did Gabriel not know the will of Allah? Why would Gabriel pray if Allah had decided death?

    4)         Why did Muhammad force the other Muslims to drink the medicine he was given? One of them was one of his wives, and she was fasting. He forced her to break her fast and drink the medicine as well. Doesn't this sound vindictive and petty?

    5)         Why, when just before his death, did Muhammad have to utter a curse upon the Christians and the Jews? Wouldn't it have been better for Muhammad to pray for guidance for them? This also sounds like a jealous, bitter prayer to Allah. Muhammad prayed for and uttered curses instead of asking Allah to guide people.

    6)         Why would pleurisy, which is a normal infection of the lung membrane, be considered to be from Satan, but being poisoned would not be from Satan?

              CONCLUSION

Muhammad was not a real prophet, he was a false prophet.  He died as a result of eating poison that he didn't know about.  The poisoned lamb "spoke" to him too late.  Only when he realized he was dying did Muhammad "spiritualize" his suffering and coming  death.  Prior to that he tried to get well.

Moses knew about his coming death (Deut 34:1-5).  Jesus also knew of His future death (Mark 8:32, 32).  Yet Muhammad was in the dark until he himself realized he was going to die.

Paul the apostle was bitten by a poisonous snake (Acts 28:1-6), but Paul suffered no ill effects from the bite.  God had his hand of protection on Paul, to finish the work laid out for him.  Muhammad died so suddenly that there was confusion as to would be the next ruler of the Islamic state.  To this day, part of that confusion remains. The Islamic world is divided in part because of this issue (Shia vs. Sunni).  Wouldn't Allah, who abhors division within the Ummah have protected Muhammad long enough to insure that his state remain unified, and a clearly defined successor be named?

Jesus predicted false prophets would come into the world and mislead many (Matthew 24:24).  Muhammad was such a false prophet.  Both Jesus and Moses knew God face to face, Muhammad only had a spirit or angel he called "Gabriel" speaking to him.  In the end, even this angel's prayers were not answered by Allah.  Could it be that this "Gabriel" was preaching a false religion (Galatians 1:8) to Muhammad?  Could Gabriel have been a deceptive demon or Satan himself?
